URGENT ACTION ALERT - We Agree with PM Netanyahu: Judea and Samaria cannot be Judenrein
A letter drafted by Israeli MK Tzipi Hotovely (of Netanyahu`s own conservative Likud party), which 13 other Likud MKs have already signed on to, calls PM Netanyahu to account regarding the current "freeze" on settlement growth. This freeze stops any normal, healthy family in the ancient Israeli heartland of Judea and Samaria (see pictures below) to add on to their homes or to move into a larger one... much less to invite any of their extended family to live with them! With this Action Alert UCI is strongly encouraging the other Likud members who have not yet signed to please do so immediately.
Recently Prime Minister Netanyahu made a strong statement to German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier saying, "Judea and Samaria cannot be Judenrein." "Judenrein" is the German term used during World War II Nazi control of Germany which called for Germany to be "rid of all Jews." Judea and Samaria are historically the heartland of ancient Israel. These communities were hard-won in recent wars of self-defense and provide the high ground for protection of Jerusalem and the rest of Israel. We are in strong opposition to current US policy demanding that Israel cease all natural growth in the communities of Judea and Samaria. These cities are often denigrated as "settlements" while, in actuality, they are mostly permanent communities offering municipal services and often catering to major international corporations with state of the art corporate parks and the most advanced infrastructure. How would you like it if someone called your home a settlement?

The Likud has always been in favor of natural development in Judea and Samaria, including during the election campaign."
"As Likud members, we cannot support a two state solution on principle," the MKs wrote. "[Such a solution] is neither possible, nor proper, due to the moral right of the Jewish people to the land and for security reasons. Saying otherwise delegitimizes the Israeli struggle for the land."
We hope you are in full agreement with this. If not, you may change the wording as you wish. Simply add your own comments. Unchanged, your letter will be sent as follows and will go to 12 MKs who have not yet signed the letter to PM Netanyahu as well as a copy to Prime Minister Netanyahu. We want Israel Likud MKs to know that there are MANY Americans who do not support the current shift in US Middle East strategy and who strongly support Israel`s sovereignty and security.
We Agree with PM Netanyahu, who said to German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier recently, "Judea and Samaria cannot be Judenrein." Judea and Samaria are historically the heartland of ancient Israel and hard-won in recent wars of self-defense. The 300,000 current Jewish citizens of Judea and Samaria are critical to Israel`s sovereignty and security.
Any punishment or limitation in these "high ground" areas will greatly handicap and could potentially cause a fatal handicap for Israel during any future war.
Therefore, we are seeking to strengthen PM Netanyahu in his stance by asking you to sign on to MK Hotovely`s letter asking for the current freeze on settlement growth to be lifted.
I am aware that these communities are mostly very well-established and modern permanent housing communities and am very anxious to protect Judea and Samaria from becoming another Gaza, which was, with it`s surrender to Fatah, turned into a hotbed of the most extreme Hamas repression and terror.
I am in total agreement with the position of the letter signed by 13 of the 27 Likud MKs which strengthens PM Netanyahu`s logical position about "Judenrein." The US is making unreasonable one-sided demands on Israel, such as the ultimatum issued by Secretary of State Clinton that Israel stop all "settlement" building activity in Judea and Samaria, including even "natural growth" - while at the same time making no such demands on the Palestinians, ignoring their many infractions.
The MKs wrote in the letter "We Likud MKs are turning to you (Prime Minister Netanyahu) due to reports that you would agree to freeze settlement growth temporarily in parts of Judea and Samaria, despite our promise to the voters to continue building in the settlements. I applaud this statement by the first 13 Likud signatories and urge the remaining MKs to sign immediately.
This statement by Likud is very encouraging to supporters of Israel in the United States. Let the beautiful communities of Judea and Samaria continue to thrive!

Groups such as the Kansas-based Unity Coalition for Israel, which is run by the indefatigable Esther Levens, have brought together dozens of Christian and Jewish organizations across the U.S., literally mobilizing millions of people to press their elected representatives on Israel-related issues. Working through constituent groups such as Bridges for Peace and Christian Friends of Israel, the coalition has helped to educate numerous Americans about the importance of a strong U.S.-Israel relationship, and it has become a leading voice for Israel in the halls of power in Washington."
