HEY! WHO IS ON THE LORD'S SIDE?

Who Is on the Lord's Side?
Frances R. Havergal, 1877

Who is on the Lord’s side? Who will serve the King?
Who will be His helpers, other lives to bring?
Who will leave the world’s side? Who will face the foe?
Who is on the Lord’s side? Who for Him will go?
By Thy call of mercy, by Thy grace divine,
We are on the Lord’s side—Savior, we are Thine!

Not for weight of glory, nor for crown and palm,
Enter we the army, raise the warrior psalm;
But for love that claimeth lives for whom He died:
He whom Jesus saveth marches on His side.
By Thy love constraining, by Thy grace divine,
We are on the Lord’s side—Savior, we are Thine!

Jesus, Thou hast bought us, not with gold or gem,
But with Thine own lifeblood, for Thy diadem;
With Thy blessing filling each who comes to Thee,
Thou hast made us willing, Thou hast made us free.
By Thy grand redemption, by Thy grace divine,
We are on the Lord’s side—Savior, we are Thine!

Fierce may be the conflict, strong may be the foe,
But the King’s own army none can overthrow;
’Round His standard ranging, vict’ry is secure,
For His truth unchanging makes the triumph sure.
Joyfully enlisting, by Thy grace divine,
We are on the Lord’s side—Savior, we are Thine!

Chosen to be soldiers, in an alien land,
Chosen, called, and faithful, for our Captain’s band;
In the service royal, let us not grow cold,
Let us be right loyal, noble, true and bold.
Master, Thou wilt keep us, by Thy grace divine,
Always on the Lord’s side—Savior, always Thine!

The Lord's My Shepherd, I'll Not Want
by Francis Rous, 1579-1659

The Lord's my Shepherd, I'll not want;
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; He leadeth me
The quiet waters by.

My soul He doth restore again
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
E'en for His own name's sake.

Yea, tho' I walk in death's dark vale,
Yet will I fear no ill;
For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
And staff me comfort still.

My table Thou hast furnished
In presence of my foes;
My head Thou dost with oil anoint,
And my cup overflows.

Goodness and mercy, all my life,
Shall surely follow me;
And in God's house forevermore
My dwelling place shall be.
Saints, I agree with David, the Psalmist for most of the Book of Psalms.
ADONAI [Hebrew for "The LORD"] is my Shepherd; I lack nothing.

He has me lie down in grassy pastures, He leads me by quiet water, He restores my inner person.

He guides me in right paths for the sake of His own name.

*

Even if I pass through death-dark ravines, I will fear no disaster; for You are with me; Your rod and staff reassure me.

You prepare a table for me, even as my enemies watch; You anoint my head with oil from an overflowing cup.

**

Goodness and grace will pursue me every day of my life; and I will live in the house of ADONAI for years and years to come.
AMEN!

This same psalmist also wrote Psalm 37, a passage that I have had to rely on quite a bit over the last few years. Here are a few of the the verses, 1-11, of this 40 verse Psalm.
Don't be upset by evildoers or envious of those who do wrong, for soon they will wither like grass and fade like the green in the fields.

Trust in ADONAI, and do good; settle in the land, and feed on faithfulness.

Then you will delight yourself in ADONAI, and He will give you your heart's desire.

Commit your way to ADONAI; trust in Him, and He will act.

He will make your vindication shine forth like light, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

Be still before ADONAI; wait patiently till He comes.

Don't be upset by those whose way succeeds because of their wicked plans.

Stop being angry, put aside rage, and don't be upset--it leads to evil.

For evildoers will be cut off, but those hoping in ADONAI will inherit the land.

Soon the wicked will be no more; you will look for his place, and He won't be there.

But the meek will inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.

Psalm 37 ends with the following Vital Truth:

ADONAI is the One Who Saves the righteous; He is their stronghold in time of trouble.

ADONAI helps them and rescues them, rescues them from the wicked and saves them; because they take refuge in Him.
AMEN!

Thank You, ADONAI!
