Dear Saints, The military archive image to the right is a painting entitled, "The Burning of the USS Philadelphia in the Harbor of Tripoli, 1804." One writer has referred to this kind of activity when it happens these days as "Maritime Jihad."
This week J. Michael has a very interesting assessment of our current challenges with Islam. You can find his article below. In reading J.Michael's work, I am reminded of the little known fact that our battle against Islam dates all the way back to the founding of our nation. Indeed, it is that history that is referenced in the Marine Corp Hymn. You know the song:
Marines' Hymn
"From the Halls of Montezuma
To the Shores of Tripoli,
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land, and sea.
First to fight for right and freedom,
And to keep our honor clean,
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marines.
Our flag's unfurled to every breeze

Where we could take a gun.

And in sunny tropic scenes,

Well, the first line that references "the Shores of Tripoli" has to do with combating Islamists. Indeed, that was one of the principle reasons why the Marine Corp was formed. "FOREVER AT WAR WITH US"

President Obama told the Turkish Parliament on April 6, 2009: “[L]et me say this as clearly as I can: The United States is not, and will never be, at war with Islam.”
Canadian newspaper columnist Harry Rosenfeld commented: “President Obama faces the challenge of providing the leadership to overcome the cruel yet effective power of an abiding religious strain in Islam that is not open to being placated. That is the real stark state of the world.”
In his new book, THE BLOOD OF LAMBS: A FORMER TERRORIST'S MEMOIR OF DEATH AND REDEMPTION, Kamal Saleem writes about his mother teaching her children from the Koran and the Hadith at their kitchen table: “Killing infidels is one of the ways Allah would open heaven for us, she told us. ‘It is your duty,’ she said. ‘It is the duty of the faithful to punish and harass the Jews and Christians, who are thieves and traitors to Islam. They are cursed as monkeys and pigs, and their spirits as unclean. It is in the Book.’”
On April 20th, 2009, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told a United Nations conference: “Following the World War Two, they [the Jewish people] resorted to military aggression to make an entire nation homeless, on the pretext of Jewish sufferings and the ambiguous and dubious question of holocaust.”
Ahmadinejad has consistently encouraged hatred for Israel and Jews. At a conference which Ahmadinejad hosted in Tehran, Iran in October, 2005, Ali Akbari, a representative of the Association of Islamic Schoolchildren, declared: “Young Iranians are being readied to be the flagbearers of wiping off Israel from the world map”.
The next speaker was Ahmadinejad: “I say accomplishment of a world without America and Israel is both possible and feasible.”
With the audience chanting, “Death to Israel, death to America, death to England”, Ahmadinejad declared, “And with the help of the Almighty, we shall soon experience a world without America and Zionism, notwithstanding those who doubt.”
In his book, Saleem explains why America and Israel are bonded in Islamic hatred: “We hated the Jews, of course, and that was the reason for our hatred of America. …[W]e knew that if it were not for America, Israel would not exist.”
Kamal Saleem began his training with the imams of the Muslim Brotherhood when he was seven years-old: “We learned the doctrine of al toqiah, of lying to our enemies for the sake of Islam. And we learned that all our enemy’s property – his women, his children, his money, his house – belonged to us.”
Anne-Marie Slaughter was appointed as the Obama administration’s director of policy planning at the U.S. State Department. She suggests that we “give Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the bear-hug treatment. …We must also be able to offer real carrots for more responsible behavior, such as the prospect of aid in developing gas supplies that will enable Iran to provide an alternative source to Russian gas fields, and/or the prospect of membership in a G-8 expanded to a G-15 or G-20.”
Before she implements that policy, Ms. Slaughter should read Saleem’s confession on page 215 of his book: “In the name of Islam, I befriended messengers of political enlightenment – communists, Bathists, intellectual revolutionaries – from three countries. Then I killed them.”
When Kamal Saleem was shown radical love by Christians, Kamal called out to Allah and received no answer. Then, “I cried out in a loud voice, with every fiber within me, ‘God of Father Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, if you are real, speak to me!’” And his cry was answered.
That is why he is now warning us: “People who are like I used to be do not get tired. They do not give up. They do not run out of money. And they do not run out of hate.” [Emphasis Mine]
